Oversight Committee

Statement of Purpose

The IAASE Oversight Committee will have responsibility to monitor IAASE governance procedures, organizational policies, IAASE Constitutionality questions and to assist the Executive Board in consistent operation. The Committee emphasizes continuing accurate use of the IAASE Constitution, and the viability of rules and procedures.

Function and Tasks of the Oversight Committee


  • The Oversight Committee will assure that monitoring and implementation occurs and is consistent with the established Policy Review Procedures approved by the Executive Board.

  • The Oversight Committee will annually review and update the IAASE Executive Board Policies and Procedures, by reviewing the official Executive Board approved minutes. Any implications in decisions and practice that are inconsistent with the decisions executed by the Executive Board will be addressed with the IAASE President and then the Executive Board.

  • The Oversight Committee will assure the adherence to the IAASE Constitution and Policies and Procedures.

  • The Oversight Committee will prepare revised or new policies and or procedures as directed by the Executive Board for presentation and action by the Executive Board.

  • The Oversight Committee will assure, by working with the IAASE Administrative Assistant, that the changes to the IAASE Constitution and Policies and Procedures are noted and made in all subsequent written copies to the Executive Board and IAASE

  • The Oversight Committee will collaborate with the Planning and Evaluation Committee, as Constitutional questions, and policy and procedure, are brought into discussion.

  • The Oversight Committee will support the Executive Board in the task of Executive Board orientation.

  • The Oversight Committee will periodically request that all IAASE Executive Board Officers and Committee Chairperson(s) review the official description of their Elected Office or Committee for accuracy and observance of required functions and tasks.

  • The IAASE President will recommend the approval of the Oversight Chairperson from the list of former IAASE Presidents.

  • Terms of Oversight Committee Chairperson shall be for two (2) years and their appointment aligned with the term and recommendation of each new IAASE President. The Chairperson who leaves the position prior to the end of the two (2) years shall be replaced to fulfill the remaining portion of the two (2) year term.

  • The Oversight Committee Chairperson shall be a voting Member of the IAASE Executive Board.

  • The Oversight Committee Chairperson will appoint Members in good standing to participate on the Committee. The Committee Chairperson may add Members at any time and the term will be consistent with the term of each IAASE President.

  • The Oversight Committee Members will consist of a minimum of three (3) Members.

  • The Oversight Committee Members will be selected based on the diversity of the IAASE membership including, the IAASE regions, experience, gender and racial background.

  • The Oversight Committee Members terms shall be for two (2) years and their appointment aligned with the term of each new IAASE President. The Oversight Committee Members may be reappointed to successive two (2) year terms. The Committee Members who leave the position prior to the end of a two (2) year term shall be replaced to fulfill the remaining portion of the term.
